mobile internet help

I got a galaxy note and want to tether the data connection. I can do this ok, my problem is that I get a better signal upstairs but that means leaving my mobile up there. Is there a way or a cheap device I can get which will give me a better signal downstairs.

If your tethering via WiFi you should get a good signal downstairs too ?

Short answer, nope.

You'd need the extra power to broadcast back to the mobile tower from somewhere.

ThE phone receives a stronger mobile signal upstairs. I was wondering if I could put like a receiver upstairs that broad casts the signal around my house like my phone is doing now but I would still want the internet on my phone so would I need 2 identical sims? This is new to me so any thoughts on a way forward would be great

If you can use your phone as a wifi hotspot rather than a tether, then you can get a wifi signal booster.

As far I can tell, it's nothing to do with the WiFi connection.

To simplify, "how can I get a better mobile phone signal downstairs?", to which the answer is "you can't really".
