Mobile Internet...USB Stick of Sim Card for Laptop?

Currently i use my iphone as a wireless router, its a 3g model and the area I work gets a strong 3g signal, but unfortunately the office i work in only gives me a 2g edge connection (I work in a server data center).

So lately I’ve been playing with the thought of getting a USB stick, my first question would be...does anyone know if a USB stick would have a stronger signal than my iphone?

Next question is, i just bought a new laptop and i noticed it has a 3.5g sim slot...I didn’t know you could directly insert a sim card into a laptop now. Would this give a greater signal boost than the 2 previously mentioned ways?

In short, not really. The coverage will depend greatly on the service provider, talk to other employees on different networks and see what sort of signal they get then maybe get a sim/dongle from that provider.
