I know Sam Tucker is famous for his comedy tech videos, but if you can look past that, it's great to see a review from a Linux newbie testing the phone as an end user.

Much as I’d like a Linux phone, it does look a bit flaky here and there.

All the reasons to try Linux over windows on pc don't apply on phones - as in Linux doesn't offer any of the same benefits. Perf, updates, privacy, cost, the benefits don't exist.

postmarketOS (abbreviated as pmOS) is an operating system primarily for smartphones, based on the Alpine Linux distribution.

postmarketOS also interests me as it brings you even closer to a purist Linux desktop on mobile, however, by all accounts, it can have a steeper learning curve.

In case anyone wants to try, the distro in particular shown in the video is Ubuntu Touch: https://www.ubuntu-touch.io

It has an extremely small supported phone list though, so unable to try it myself.

It does seem interesting but I would be more worried about app support from bigger services (video streaming, banks, etc.), so not for me.

Plasma KDE also has a mobile UI which looks a little more similar to Android: https://plasma-mobile.org
