Been toying with the idea of signing for this, I had a go with the trial for a couple of days then cancelled just so I could get a feel for it. Liked the idea of having a really easy to remember email address!
Wasn't too sure about the iDisk - is this mainly for personal storage or can you sync it with Time Machine to use as a backup? Obviously couldn't back up the whole computer as it's only 10gb!

I thought it was 20gb?

Anyway only you can tell if it is worth it.

Nope mobileme is certainly not worth it. It's overpiced, does not work half the time and you cant log into your account to check mail using IE6! While IE6 is old, you often have no control over the software installed on the computer you are using, for example I now cannot check my mail from work. The push email function for the iphone is useless, it will work great for a few days, then just stop! The idisk is also very temperamental, a lot of the time it just bombs out and reports an error.

I love Apple products, but this one really is pants. Don't waste your cash.

p.s To compensate for mobileme being useless apple have given me an additional free 90 days of use. Great now I can watch it not working for another 3 months.

I am still in my trial and so far I haven't really had any problems with mail to my iPhone. However I am not a huge user of email so may be that I just don't use it enough.

I installed Safari on the PC to get access to mobileme as IE didn't work, but as looking to go MBP when they launch the new ones then figured I may as well get used to it.

The only person that can really say if it is worth it to you is yourself.

I will be getting it as part of a family pack so cheaper then an individual one. For me it is worth it as I can use the back to mac as well for my parent machine as well as my own.

For me it is worth it. For others it isn't.

Just to add, I will most likely be getting an iPhone when my contract changes in February.
I'll have another go with the trial when I get my new iMac, guess that's the only way to see eh?

It's worth it if you have an iPhone (Buy the MobileMe code from eBay by the way, miles chaper), if not I wouldn't say so really.

I like it but also on the trial, used it for my iweb website and hosting files i need elsewhere, im sure their is free alternatives for this but so far its been fantastic.

Mobile Me works great for me. I'm using these features very often:

  • Syncing of iCal and Address Book between my Macs and iPod
  • The photo album to share my photos (each of my photos are 5+MB in size, so emailing is not an option)
  • The web space, to create a blog there. I'm only putting a blog there because it's one of the features. I wouldn't pay 100 quid a year just for a blog.
It's very useful if you got an iPhone, iPod or multiple computers, or make large pictures that aren't suitable for e-mail.
