After some pointers as I'm tying myself up in knots.

What are the best mobile navigation patterns/bits of code you guys use?

I've got a bespoke site that's being redone to be mobile optimised and I'm pretty sorted on everything but the navigation aspect and I'm looking for some pointers.

I don't do any mobile development yet, but I have heard of frameworks, and wonder if they would offer you anything?

Phonegap is tailored to mobile apps and not websites.

Can you give us a run-down of what you have currently? A link or something?

There's nothing currently, just your standard inline bunch of links

I build some fairly complex (read: boring) website for a living, and I haven't noticed any good emerging patterns yet. I've done different things on my sites, none of which I've been totally happy with. It's likely that the 'holy grail' will appear at some point, but it hasn't yet.

I'd try to avoid JS libraries were you can because they add so much weight to a page.

Most of them seem ok for single level navigation bit throw in multi levels and it falls apart quickly.

I've found an off canvas one called mmemu which I've got working nicely for this project.

mmenu look virtually identical to a nav I implemented on a site recently. A bit more polished (and the JS is certainly better written).
