advice please, father is older, was using an old nokia until recently when it eventually failed, his manual dexterity post stroke isn't great
touch screen isn;t really an option, he won't get swipes and gestures, unless there is some real easy touch screen skin where you tap a big massive icon
so a big button, easy to read, short or no menu phone please
cheap as **** would be grand also, just calls and text, no net capability needed
any suggestions?

does it need to be mobile? I got my parents a Motorola FW200L house gsm phone as they moved into an fibre only area and it's cheaper to get a mobile than a landline with fibre.

I did get them a meh brand one from amazon, before I knew that Motorola made them too, they all looked the same so I picked a mid price one but it died after a few months just after the return period ran out.

They also got a nokia 105, which is cheap as chips... I got the contract and phone on sky for 1.50 per month for unlimited mins.

I just program the speed dial in the same for both phones and told them which number called who, yeah that limits them to 8 people but if they need to speak to someone else, one of the 8 just passes the message for the other to call them.

EDIT: I've just checked skys website, you can select the nokia 105 for £2 per month then select the 100 meg data pacakge which has unlimited calls and text for free.. totaling 2 pounds per month!

Got my gran a Doro 2404 last year and she's been able to use it easily whereas she had trouble with non-flip phones. Big numbers/buttons and a decent size screen if you need to increase the font size
