I got a call earlier from an old friend of my mum's who is apparently receiving messages that "look like they're in code".
They're from a number they know, as they went to some meeting for a hobby and exchanged numbers to join some sort of group chat, but all they're getting is "code" messages every now and then.
I've said I'll try and pop down at the weekend to look at it, but does anyone know what the problem might be?
My guess is that it might be something like they need a specific app but I'd have thought it would simply say "download whatsapp from the store" or something similar if that was the case and then do it over data?
I'm going to try and check the phone is up to date/running the latest version of the mms client etc as I've seen some suggestion during a google search that it might be the phone has the wrong date/time but i'm not in anyway an expert on mobiles so any help is appreciated
The phone is some sort of Android, my guess is likely samsung as I seem to remember her old phone was and she liked them but she's not very technical (at least with phones/computers) so all I know is it's not an apple phone, and it's like her old one
