Hello GD,

I'm travelling to india for a few weeks but I want to insure my s22 ultra. Looking at gocompare and compare the market I need an actual receipt to insure it. I bought it second hand... anyone have any recommendations for insurers that don't require this?

protect you bubble had lots of tv advertising in the uk https://uk.protectyourbubble.com/uploads/files/documents/gadget-insurance/PYB-Gadget-Monthly.pdf

We need to know that the gadget you are claiming for is yours or a family member’s (or owned by the business if this is a business policy). Therefore you will need to provide some form of proof of ownership. You will need to be able to tell us the make and model of your gadget. We may ask to see something that tells us that the items you are claiming for belong to you and confirms the make, model or serial number (IMEI number for mobile phones) and memory size (where relevant) of your gadget. If the serial number or IMEI number on the gadget has been tampered with and we are unable to verify this we will decline your claim. For mobile phones the IMEI number is the unique serial number. You can find it by inputting *#06# into your mobile phone. It should also be noted on the documentation that came with your mobile phone when you purchased it. Your airtime provider may also be able to provide it to you. Proof of ownership could include a till receipt or documentation from any online purchase, or in the case of mobile phones documentation from your network provider. If you don’t have any proof of ownership we may decline your claim.

I don't bother for this very reason.
So many do not insure second hand phones.

Just buy a cheap mobile phone to use while over there

Barclays Tech Pack? It’s not cheap though, £14 a month but you can cancel any time. You can just add the serial onto the site, however I’m not sure on used goods…

does look like this would be a problem even in the UK , for claiming on house insurance for a stolen phone
maybe they'd accept an ebay transaction (but they don't mention IMEI number), or for a social media purchase I suppose I'd ask for original purchase receipt (like for a bicycle say)
