Silly me. Late for work after late shift last night, hovering around 100mph on dual carriageway 2nd lane. I spotted a marked car on bridge about 80 metres away, just as I saw it, I braked down to 70. Do they send nip/ban or would they have chased me?

If they were checking for speeding, they will typically be using VASCAR and would have chased you.

Only way to be sure is wait 14 days.

They don't have to chase you.

It depends on whether they and at what speed they were pointing the radar at your vehicle. If the motorway was empty then you're probably done for but if it was busy you might have got lucky.

Could have been sat there doing anything, eating a sandwich, waiting for a car with drug links that they know is travelling that way, looking the other way etc

You just gotta wait :s

I went past a van at 50 in a 40 on the way to work. It immediately got onto the road and i thought balls! I turned into work car park but it went on somewhere else. On way home went through it at 50 again.

This was a month and a half ago now and not had any fines!

They are usually just looking for bad driving, or making sure people see them and do a bit less of it. Speed enforcement of that kind will almost always be done by vans with civilian crews. In this case it seems to have achieved its purpose. I seriously doubt that you will hear anything.

Well I saw them as soon as I saw them, which is when they would have seen me as I was looking up anyway. Only thing is if they had radar beam as I came into their view, as immediately after that it was 70 all the way. I have learnt my lesson, just done a 60 mile journey and let people overtake me as much as they want as I was doing the speed, in a BMW! Do they get you by camera coming towards or going away from them? Or either?

They can get you going away from them by post, going towards them by post, going away from you and then chasing you and going towards them and then chasing you.

Pro top: if the guy doing the speed check has a Range Rover and starts go give chase, nail it.

could have been doing anpr checks, mot, insurance road tax and drug markers on cars etc
I'm sure if they were out for speed they would have give chase by a another pursuit car up ahead
