Hi all.

Tried out Moblin Beta last night (btw i am VERY MUCH a Linux newb), and it does look pretty good (certainly fast at least even from a USB flash drive) for basic netbook stuff.

Now, I am thinking I may dual boot this on my NC10 and was going to get a smallish SSD for the netbook. Whilst there is loads of stuff (and user experience) on Windows 7 and SSDs, my question is whether there is a load of stuff I will need to do in Linux/Moblin 'to make it work properly' or can I just plug and play with it?

Will probably get a smallish (say 64gb) Samsung for it.

Any tips hints or answers greatfully received (be gentle...I have not got a clue with Linux (as I recently discovered playing about with Mint and Ubuntu).

Never used Moblin - I assume that it is mostly aimed at the point and click market of netbooks and mobile devices, so you should be ok without needing to know too much about how it works (unless you want to!).

Best bet if you have problems is to search the web, as most issues that you encounter, someone else has already been there and the solutions can usually be found on various forums.

Also - welcome to linux :)

You don't need to do anything special for SSD's to 'work properly'.
Stuff you've been reading about is concerned with optimizing your usage to delay problems with block allocation.
But this is something you can tinker with over time. Not something you need to worry about from the start.

Unless you're the anal retentive type. In which case scour Google for tips and look at Ted Tso's blog too
