Hi

So I already have a z77 mobo (1150) and I have a SLI set up.

Now the current mobo works fine, BUT there is no room for a sound card to be installed because of the GPUs...

I want to use a second sound card to drive tactile devices (buttkickers).

An external USB sound is too hit and miss.....so not an option.....

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance
Phil.

Presumeably you have pci-e sound cards? You will need to be careful with motherboard selection. If you change to a board with 3x physical pci-e 16x lanes they will most likely run at 8x/8x/4x and disable all the 1x slots as there's not enough bandwidth. It's going to be difficult to find a board with usuable 1x slots when running SLI as they tend to put them between the cards. A board with a PLX chip to increase pci-e lanes may be the best way to go and then you will be able to use the full size pci-e slots. Boards such as Gigabytes Z77 G1. Sniper 3 and Z77X-UP7 have PLX chips. Unfortunately you are going to be very restricted as to what is available brand new so you may have no choice but to go second hand. It would help if you told us what board you already have though.
