Hello I have just ordered a Intel Core i7 6700K Processor (4 GHz, 4 Core, 8 Threads, 8 MB cache, LGA1151 Socket Box)

Will this motherboard work with it ok or is it overkill or underkill.
Asus ROG MAXIMUS VIII EXTREME Intel Z170 S 1151 DDR4 E-ATX Motherboard.

I will be getting 16gb ram and a asus gtx 1060 founder edition

lastly two 1tb hdd's and a corsair 1000w psu, will that be sufficient enough power for this system?

Thanks in advance guys

Those should all work fine together, though the mobo is a little bit overkill, as you're unlikely to need all those PCIe slots, specially as the GTX1060 can't do SLI, and need to make sure your case can fit an E-ATX board.

1000w is way more than enough, could prob just about get away with half that. A nice 80+ gold 550 might be a better option.

Also if you don't have one already its worth getting an SSD

:)

These might be a better fit and would save enough to get a GTX1070 instead of the 1060

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £272.04
(includes shipping: £11.10)

Agreed, and if the OP is buying that particular motherboard hoping it's going to be any faster than anything else, it won't be. All but the absolute 'bottom drawer' Z170 motherboards perform almost identically.

Also, if the aim is gaming, 8GB of fast DDR4 will trounce 16GB of standard DDR4 in almost any game you care to mention.

That is a very unbalanced system. You probably would be fine with an i5 6600K if going with the GTX 1060.

A 1000W psu is way too much and the board is very expensive.

I would also suggest that you don't get the founders edition (Get one with an aftermarket cooler).

What resolution are you gaming at ? Are you doing any game streaming or video editing/rendering etc ?

You don't need such a overpriced motherboard. Personally I wouldn't spend more than £135-140 on a board. Performance and overclocking will be more or less the same. If you change to one of these boards:-

Swap the psu to either of these:-

Or if going SLI in the future, one of these:-

Then you can get a GTX1070 for a much more balanced system.
