OK guys looking to upgrade 2 64bit
I ve already got Corsair 1GB DDR XMS3200C2PT TwinX PLATIUM (2x512MB) which i've had a while but that will do for now (will save up and get couple of gig later in year)
I'll probably get 7900 Series PCI-Express gfx card
so that will leave me £200 absolute max inc the vat to get mobo and cpu
what would you guys suggest
I am not really looking to overclock may have a go but won t push it
Mostly use will be for gaming bf2 css that sort of thing.
Thanks for any advice :)
(psu all sorted)

Just over a little, but best bang for your money atm is:
AMD Athlon 64 4000+ (Socket 939) - Retail (CP-120-AM) £111.57 Including VAT

Sapphire PURE RD580 CrossFire Advantage (Socket 939) PCI-Express Motherboard (PC-A9RD580Adv) (MB-004-SP)
£93.94 Including VAT

Unless you specificly want Dual core and poss differnt board option:

Intel Pentium 4 805 Dual Core "LGA775 Smithfield" 2.66GHz (533FSB) - Retail (CP-116-IN)
£85.72 Including VAT

Thats a monster of a CPU at a budget price, but I'm not an Intel (p4) user, so kind of lost touch on what chipset would be the best option for you with DDR. But loads of money left over for a Good board.

If your preppared to do a little overclocking then you will have a sweat system.

I think he might be best waiting until the price drops on the AMD dual cores? Unless he wants a system right now.

Although if your going to play BF2 2GB ram is recommend heavily imo!

Possibly waiting is the best option - but if we wait, w shall never get a Rig built and finished.

Anyone with idea's on the best intel board ?

But the price drops are coming very soon? Some are already coming down to £123 inc. VAT.

I could understand if we were estimating price drops 3 months ahead but they are happening right now.

Best intel board is the Bax Axe.

2GB is needed to get the most out of BF2. I had 1GB up untill a week ago, now with 2gb and it makes a lot of difference
