Need a few last bits and pieces. Been having PC problems and also slowly upgrading bits for the last few weeks.

I've just bought or had already:

GPU: Sapphire 7950 from here (now discontinued)

PSU: Seagate Barracuda 1TB for media etc.

PSU: OcUK Rage GT 700W

HDD: WD 500G Black

Case: Antec 183 (I've got the old 180 model)

So I need a Mobo, CPU and RAM that will do it some justice for BF4. Money is really tight as I just bought the graphics card. Anything sub £300? I'm happy to clock, but I like to keep things stable and worry-free.

TIA :D

Hmm not sure about that PSU, people say never skimp on a PSU so i would get a quality like XFX, Corsair, Antec etc.

That PSU needs to go back fella.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail £179.99
1 x **B Grade** Gigabyte Z77X-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £60.00
1 x Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (BLS2CP4G3D1609DS1S00CEU) £59.99
Total : £311.38 (includes shipping : £9.50).

Mobo is B grade so might well need some sata cables (check with CS). Best value I could do for ~£300. You can add a heatsink later for overclocking, something like the Coolermaster 212 is good value at @£25

AMD is where it is at for this budget and BF3,

You can easily get the FX8320 up and beyond the FX8350 performance.

Ha! Ok. Didn't realise the CPU was that bad. It was from a specced rig from here a few years ago. If it's got to go, then it's gone! I should have checked at the time I guess.

As I can't see me running dual cards at any point, would a 550W PSU do?

I had eyed the AMD and that looks the likeliest option.

A good quality 550w PSU will do.

AMD is the best option for you and depending on the height restriction of your case a £25 heatsink will allow you to do 4-4.5Ghz and keep the temps under control.

Good PSU.

I would have thought a 8pin ATX extension to reach the very top of the board would be needed. Maybe a 24pin ATX too? depends how you have the cables routed I suppose.

Either of those two are spot on, the Antec is made by seasonic to by the way, but isn't modular and is slightly less efficient (bronze vs gold).

Due to availability - that Seasonic PSU really does stand out so was sold out over the weekend, I had to sort a PSU from elsewhere as I'm impatient. Bit annoying!

Other than that, I got the above stuff. Just need to do some reading up to get that 8320 above and beyond an 8350! should have asked if the stock cooler can handle it? It's a cool case and I was planning on putting a 4th fan in(Antec 180) that's spare.
