Hi,
I'm running into memory problems when playing games - Although my mobo supposedly supports up to 8gb, half the slots are faulty so I'm limited to 4gb. This is just not enough, e.g. for Witcher 3, fractured space, and since I'm still running phenom II, I'm past overdue for an upgrade!

I have an amd hd6850 which is still serviceable for now considering I'm only on (2x) 22" 1680x1050 so thinking I just need mobo + cpu (+hsf) + ram.

for lga1151 I see there are different chip sets and options for ddr3 / ddr4 so have little idea which direction to go here.

However, I do want to keep options open for up to 64GB ram, and so starting with 1x16gb or 2x16gb would seem to make sense.

If I could get all this for £300 that would be great, but am open to more expensive options as long as the 'bang for buck' is there, or it's a necessity for the future proofing I'd like - I also don't want to jump into an end-of-line socket with no CPU upgrades possible.

Please let me have your suggestions :D

This bundle seems to fit your specifications :P

It supports skylake and will support kabylake, doubtful if it will support cannonlake (coffelake)but those motherboards aren't even available yet.

In terms of future proofing, this will keep up for at least 5-6 years.. I'm still running a 2nd generation i7 and i don't see any bottlenecks in games lol.

How about this. 1 stick of 16GB ram included so you can add later for your 64Gb requirement. Damn ram has gone up in price recently.

yeah, that kingston module is prob the way I''l go with the memory. Thanks, Dan.

That msi board is interesting - it has three pcie x16 slots. What could you realistically use the third one for given it's location close to the edge of the board?

I don't know mate I just picked it cos I thought it would look cool with the AIO and some bright colour led fans.
