Hi folks,

I'm looking to buy a new mobo, cpu, ram and air cooler and my budget is 3-350. I'd like an MSI gaming series board (maybe z97), haswell i5 chip and 8gb of ram for gaming.

Is anybody able to throw these together for me in my price range? I understand that I might need to get a different mobo than the msi one to get within my price range but am so out of touch with current products I could really use a helping hand.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i5-4670K 3.40GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor - Retail £169.99
1 x MSI Z97 Gaming 5 Intel Z97 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard **MSI Cashback** £114.95
1 x TeamGroup Vulcan RED 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-17100C11 2133MHz Dual Channel Kit (TLD38G2133HC11ADC01) £59.99
1 x ACX EVGA CPU cooler, Black - 120 mm £34.99
Total : £389.52 (includes shipping : £8.00).

Notes:

1. If you follow the steps to obtain the 20% cashback on the motherboard, the real total cost will be about £365.

2. Really, you should wait until the new i5-K chip arrives, in a couple of weeks. It runs cooler and should overclock better.

3. Specced an air cooler that cools very well according to reviews, and looks nice with the MSI Gaming board. Not sure about the noise. According to the reviews, the older model from a few years ago could get noisy, but the fan did have a high range RPM to be fair, so that would be expected. This model looks just the same but is newer and they've changed the name from "Superclock" to "ACX". Don't know if there are any changes besides that. Some of the Rajinteks are also interesting, and fit the budget a bit better. Whichever cooler you choose, be sure to check its dimensions and those of your case.

The Gigabyte Gaming 3 is an option too. And comes with a headset worth £33, that you could keep or sell. While stocks last, I imagine.

Thanks for this Danny. it's a little bit over the budget but I like whats in the bag. I might have to check down the back of the sofa to see what else I can find. I'm going to think about the i5-k but I'd probably end up running everything at stock to begin with anyway and so overclocking might not be that much of an issue. I will look at other coolers to suit the budget but I like the aesthetics on the EVGA one.

You're welcome.

The RAM has just gone on This Week Only offer, so that's £6 saved ;)

You have to buy the motherboard between 15th and 31st May to be eligible for the cashback.
