Mobo cpu upgrade question

Just having a browse online today and have seen a 4770k and z97 mobo for £300. Already have ram so Just wondering if you think I should upgrade to it. I know it's old but is still as powerful. For a skylakee it would be around £150 more. Any helpful advice would be great

Day to day, you wouldn't notice much difference between a 4770k and a 6700k.
6700k performs several hundred points better in passmark - but that's just synthetics

If you have the budget for Skylake, I'd say go for it, you've got an upgrade path with the board and RAM for at least Kaby Lake, if not the generation afterwards. Buying Z97 is essentially buying into a 'dead' platform. It's a great platform! It'll just never see another generation of CPUs
