Anyone help me with my fault please...

When i switch on the pc, all the fan's seem to work e.t.c, Everything kicks in, But i keep getting constant short beeps, Which indicates a fault, Checked the manual of the Mobo, And says "Power Issue", I've only had this mobo since last Monday, And haven't been able to get it to post yet, Just doesn' t seem to fire up properly. Been to get it checked at our local pc tech guy, And he says he checked everything bar the Mobo and CPU and said the rest were fine, But he couldn't test the MOBO OR CPU he says.. Ive just got back from purchasing a new CPU Intel Pentium Dual Core E5400 @ 2.7GHz Processor, Installed it and still get the same problem, So it only leaves me with the Mobo, Which could be the Fault at hand. Is this the case?
Many Thanks.

I Have all the power connectors in place properly, got 2x 4 pin 12V connectors and 1 of them is connected the other loose, as it connected by the same cables.

Right its posted, its on the skeleton setup, cpu, gfx and 1 stick of ram. although it didn't work until i put the 1 stick into the 3rd slot, why's that? not sure on what to do now, the screen just has a lot of information on.
At the bottom of the screen it says
Verifying DMI POOL DATA................... UPDATE SUCESS
DISK BOOT FAILURE. INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER.

What do i do?

Silly question, did you have the ram in slots 1 & 3?

The Disk boot failure means you have no hard disc connected or the hard disc has no operating system installed.
Ive got 4 Sticks of Geil 1GB Ram all were connected prior. Then when it finally booted it was with 1 of the sticks in the 3rd Ram slot, as it wouldn't boot in 1st and 2nd.

You need to get into the BIOS - hold down the delete key during post.

When you're in the BIOS confirm that the memory and cpu settings are correct. The memory in particular - check the timing and manually input the correct voltage. Save and exit - then enter the BIOS again and confirm that the settings have taken.

Once you've done this you may need to flash the BIOS to the latest version and then run memtest on each stick and then run some other tests - but for now get into the BIOS.
Ive checked the memory and cpu settings. i believe and the memory timings were 5-5-5-5-18 or something along those lines, but i remember that mine run on 4-4-4-4-12 or again something along those lines, the CPU was set at 266*8 and reading 1.70GHz surely that isn't right? As you can tell im not good with PC's so how would i go about getting the Right Clock Speed for my Processor E5400 @ 2.7GHz?

Im actually on the pc now, its stable i guess atm, just running the 1 stick of ram atm. won't boot up in 1st and 2nd slots, Core Clock speed is running at 2.5Ghz. Ram i have is this one: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-058-GL&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=813

OK, i'm downloading your manual - could you confirm what speed the memory is running at? (it should be running 800Mhz.) Also bump the voltage for the memory up to 2.3v as it's within spec (this is very high but hopefully you will be able to lower this later once you've flashed the BIOS)

Is this still the case - have you tried any other slots since you changed the FSB?

Once we're sure all the settings are correct we need to flash the BIOS.
Yer its running at 800Mhz, ill just bump the voltage up after this post to 2.3, no haven't changed any yet, still the 1 in 3rd slot. Erm i believe it was on Auto before, and that's what im running it at now i think 1.8V

Right it works at 2.3, but only in slots 3 and 4, tried 1 stick in slot 1, constant short beeps, tried in 2, and the same, 3 and 4 are ok, i have got 2 sticks now in, 1 in each of 3 and 4.

Well we'll work on the theory for now that these issues may be resolved with a BIOS flash - and if not we'll deal with them then (maybe not tonight.)

Do you know how to flash the BIOS and have you got a USB pen?
Yer that's no problem mate, erm nope i don't know how to flash it im afraid, and yes i have a usb drive.

Right i got to the part where it says, Update BIOS FROM DRIVE, so i press enter on my USB STICK and that does nothing. any ideas. Also pressed SAVE MAIN BIOS TO DRIVE and that didn't seem to do anything either.

Its an 8GB one, and i downloaded the file onto my desktop then cut it to the drive. Ive just clicked the file, and extracted the the setup and other files onto the drive aswell.

I know you used the word 'extracted' - but could i just clarify that you did extract/unzip the files from the downloaded file and put these on the USB pen?

Yes mate. Although ive only just done it, haven't gone back and used the Q-Flash since extracting them, my mistake shall i go ahead and do it?

Yep ;)

This has given me an excuse to open up my case of Budvar so it's not all bad...

Haha, im sorry mate been a heck of a couple of week i tell you, nothing but bloody problems..
Anyways, just completed it, and all went ok, on the new one now. Woo Hoo.

Right.....

Clock Speed: 200 * 13.5 = 2.70GHz
Memory: 800Mhz
CAS LATENCY TIME - 5
TRCD - 5
TRD - 5
TRAS - 18

CPU V CORE - 1.26250V
CPU TERMINATION - 1.200V
CPU REFERANCE - 0.805V
MCH CORE - 1.100V
ICH I/O - 1.550V
DRAM VOLTAGE - 1.800V

All set to AUTO.

Great it's recognising your CPU now.

Ok, reset the CMOS (may seem odd but it's best practice after a flash) - then renter the BIOS and load optimised defaults - save and exit.

Reboot again into the BIOS and set the memory voltage back up to 2.3v again (it will hopefully not have to remain this high) - save and exit.

Then try and see if you can get any of the sticks to run in slot 1?
Right will do, ill do it tomoz anyways as im fooked now... Thanks for the help mate, means a lot. Cheers:cool:
