Mobo Help please

Hello, Good afternoon

Can anyone help me with my first build i have just completed, it all works fine and im puting software back on. one issue in device manager under Sound, video and game controllers i have 4 sub sections

AMD High Definition Audio device
High definition audio device
microsoft lifechat LX -3000
VIA high definition audio

The second one has a exclamation mark infront of it, i have installed everything off the CD and windows is up to date etc, i have been to the gigabyte website and downloaded there tool to find new drivers and updates on there support site. downloaded a new driver for VIA and rebooted.. its still there, my sound and everything all works fine.

does anyone know what i should do next? sorry if this is easy but its the first computer i have ever built..

Hello :)

If your sound is working fine, I wouldn't worry about it.

I'd suggest downloading all the latest drivers from Gigabytes site, rather than the CD, as they may be more up to date [as it's a new board, they may not have been many updates].

I see it says "AMD High Definition Audio device", I assume therefore you have an AMD graphics card? Do you have the latests drivers installed for this too?

Hello, yes my sound all works correctly and i have been to the site and downloaded and installed what it said to.. still there though.. i alos have the latest video drivers from the gigabyte site as well and it must be working as battlefield 3 plays on ultra video settings!

i have the radeon 7850, so i can ignore the exclamation mark and that it cant start up? i dont want it to break anything !!

The PC itself starts fine and works yeah?

If you've definitely installed drivers for the chipset and onboard graphics I can't see what it would be. Do you have a dedicated sound card?
 
sorry i mean that the exclamation mark is there and the error it gives is it cant start the device..

no just onboard sound

Well I wouldn't worry about it personally.

My guess is, if the VIA high definition audio is the motherboards sound chip, the AMD High Definition Audio device is from the graphics card, I'd say the one causing the 'problem' is for the onboard graphics HDMI output.

But if you've installed the Intel VGA driver [last on the list]:

Then I don't know why its still !
 
Ah right, that might be where the problem is coming from then.. i cant install that it says my device is not compatible? do i need to disable the onboard VGA? or should it know that i have a video card?

Ah yes it might just be because you've got a GPU installed [which usually automatically turns the integrated graphics off]. I'm surprised it's still there!
 
yeh i will try that thanks. when i try to run that vga update it says my machine does not meet the minimum requirements... i will remove the card and then try it..

Awesome! its fixed! thanks for the advice beejjacobs.. after removing the 7850 and running the vga on board update its removed it and sorted
