Finally getting close to having put my first build together. Confused about a few things so advice would be great!

(A) The mobo has an ATX 24pin power input and an ATX 12V 2x4 power input. Do I need to plug the relevant cables from the PSU into BOTH? (i.e are they the same thing or not - and in that case what does the 12V do?)

(B) There are several 'sys fan' (1 / 2 / Pwr fan) inputs on the mobo. What should plug into these?

(C) Is it OK for any cables to touch the case sides?

Thanks! This is more tiring than I thought!

a) both
b) case fans if they use 3pin and not molex (allows for mobo to control speed) i think pwrfan goes to the PSU's 3pin connector if it has one.
c) yes assuming the insulation hasnt broken off.

Finally all the hardware has been installed and cable management completed (I hope I'm not forced to rearrange).

I have not burned a W7 RC image DVD yet, but just powered on to see if everything seemed to be working OK.

Seemed to be fine - CPU, PSU and all case fans operating quietly.

The screen displayed:

"PCI Devices Listings

(followed by a list)

Verifying DMI Pool Data ......

AMD Data Change ... Update New Data to DMI!

Update Success

Boot from CD / DVD:

Disk Boot Failure. Insert System Disk And Press Enter."

Does this mean that the system is ready for an OS to be installed, or something else?

EDIT: Totally misread that sorry. Yeah its all good. Its telling you that there is no boot sector pretty much. Just lob win 7 in there!

Just in case you ask your best going into the bios and chageing the boot order so it will boot from the cd.

Yes, spot on! If you are too lazy you can just use the boot device select menu that is now pretty much standard on all BIOS too.

Best of luck!
