Mobo issue? - sound

Hey,

My headphones with mic (not usb) work in my laptop, but not my PC. When used with my PC its as if the wire is loose, but I think its in fact my mobo connection as it works perfectly fine every time in laptop.

Kinda annoying as I've gone through so many headphone wires thinking it was dodgey wires.

I've tried putting all mobo/sound drivers to latest version but still doesnt work properly. Is it a mobo issue or?

Any ideas?

What OS are you using? Because I've found Win7 to be flaky at best with audio.

Hmm good point

Desktop (which it doesnt work on) has windows 7 and laptop uses trusty XP.
