Hi

Ill try to keep this quick, spec is as in sig:

Turned my PC off today to come home for the weekend. Just as I left I turned it on to copy a file for my housemate. It posted, then restarted itself and reset all my OC settings. It has done this a couple of times in the past, but Ive just setet it and carried on. Its been Orthos stable and temps are fine.

difference is, this time when it restarted, it failed after post agen, and restarted itself, then again, then again, then I turned it off. Now I turned it on, blank screen, full speed graphics card fan, nothin else happens. This has also happened acouple of times in the past, but a restart has always fixed it. restarting didnt, it just sits there blank screened and not posting. I had to then leave, so have done no further testing.

Im open to suggestions as to what the issue will could be? Im going to be back on Sunday nite so will test it then. could it be mobo? the only thing thats been a bit concerning is the million degrees my NB has been running at, but its alsways been stable.

If it is mobo, does anyone know the Warranty on a Gigabyte mobo, its 13 months old. If it mobo ill just buy a replecement and hope the RMA (if i can) selles for some money to cover the cost.

Cheers

I have no spare CPU...

I thought the auto-reset on Gigabyte boards cleared the CMOS automatically? doe this just clear Overclocks rather than reset the whole CMOS? Ill give that a go when I get back.

What am i likely to get as a replacememnt for a 956P? Is it better me getting a new P35 and if I get a P31 or 965P as an RMA replacement then just sell it?

Ok, so suppose it is the mobo thats dead... What is a recomended replacement to a 956P DS3? I am on a budget due to it being an unplanned replacement...and a student... cheaper the better

ok, im back now, turned the Pc on, and it booted fine. Ran it for a bit, went back into BIOS and re-entered my overclock settings that ive been running for months. It posted, then the safety thingy kicked in and restarted with standard clocks and booted fine. What actually casues the restart and reset in the BIOS? Is is components? Volts? etc? My PSU is a Hyper, so im fully prepaired for that to be a problem, but what could it be?

What model is your Hiper PSU?

My GA-p35-ds3l did that but increasing the GMCH voltage +0.1 seemed to fix it. I think its down to having 4 sticks of RAM

GMCH?

Ive been running +0.1v on my memory since having 4 sticks anyway, there labeled at 1.9v and the board defaults to 1.8
