Mobo Problems

Got a new mobo the Abit AX8 v2 939 got it installed everything running fine for about 2 weeks until i came home from work to find my comp was running but the screen was blank......

So i rebooted it and got nothing.....so i decided to reset the bios and it would post but only get to the screen where you could press del to get into set up this is where it locked up and would not go any further

..............so i reset the bios again now when i turn the comp on it spins up but just shuts down straight away like in 2 seconds......any ideas could i have a blown bios chip

Did you remove the power cord and then remove the motherboard battery for 30 minutes?

Worth shorting out the CMOS reset pins and try again

done that with the jumper on the cmos after i had tried removing the battery originally......the thing just spins up and shuts down after not even a second

Shutting doen that quick sounds like heatsink not seated properly. the compound will keep the cpu going until it dries up. You didnt take note of temps before while it was working ???
