Mobo Replacement

Hi all, my mobo has died so I need a replacement.

The mobo was ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. PRIME Z390-A (LGA1151). With a I5 3.7ghz.

I have around 400quid so wondered if it’s worth going amd as I mainly game (FPS stuff) or just saving the cash and replacing the mobo and keep the cpu? Would i get more performance for my buck and also thinking of long term upgradeability?

Any help appreciated.
 
Cheapest is to replace the board. But there would definitely not be any long term upgradability really.

You want that then go AMD Ryzen with AM4.

If you want best bang for buck then get a MSI B450 Tomahawk Max and a 3600 or 3600x.

Plus the 8 pack 3600MHz ram. I believe all of that shoud fit in a budget of £400.

wouldn't spend any more cash then you have to . Ryzen will reach end of life on AM4 socket this year , Zen3 launched Q3 - with Zen 2 being out already. AMD stating Zen3 is a big change from current Zen2 , along with better manufacturing process .
Intel is EOL as LGA 1200 is out Q2.

could pick something second hand , till Q4 comes with Black Friday and look at what AMD and Ryzen have to offer - sell your current core kit as a bundle on ebay/MM here
 
If that is actually a Z390 board you have in there, it should still be under warranty, unless you've damaged it yourself. The chipset was only released in October 2018 from the look of it, so the board can't even be 2 years old yet?
