Mobo throttling CPU?

Hi all,

Hoping someone might be able to help me with this.

I have this weekend moved from a Gigabyte M-Itx board to a Asus P8Z77-M Pro Intel Z77 (Socket 1155). I am using my 3570k in both.

I have used the Asus AI Suite auto CPU boost to get it at 4.2GHz.

My problem is when using Handbrake to encode an mkv it is going FAR slower than before on the old board. Using Core Temp as my guide I can see the frequency is at 1648MHz I am almost sure that would always be reading 4200Mhz on the other board. Would this be the reason why my encodes are so slow?

I am sorry I am not all that technical with these things, so any help would be massively appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

Can you download and run CPU-Z which I think is a more "trust worthy" way of reading the core speed.

As soon as I wrote that I had an idea what it could have been. Turns out it was set to "tranquil" mode so was limiting CPU usage. Fixed now and Handbrake is back up to full speed .

Thanks for looking but this might as well be locked/deleted.
