pc runing to hot

my motherboard asus p5n-e sli
cpu q6600 @ stock timings
zalman 9700 led cooler on full speed
1 80 fan at back
2 80 fans at side

black case chasis is to hot and if you touch the top of the case its hot aswell

temps was

cpu 26c
motherboard 27c

then it increased to

cpu 51c
motherboard 51c

psu is hiper 530 watt type r
gfx 8800gts 320 oc edition

can anyone help

What case is it?

A case with good cooling (2 x 120mm fans in/exaust) should keep your case/mobo. That isn't really 'too' hot for a mobo.

What caused the increase in temperature? Putting the PC under load?

You must have done something to cause a 25deg increase in temperature. When did you take the two measurements.

That case has nasty airflow though so i'm not surprised with a GTS churning out all that heat.

when pc was just put on then 3 hrs later

it wasnt hot before as been runing this setup for a month now

also have a sata 2 drive

me and roughneck built this pc

I'm at a loss.. the only thing I can think of is a lack of proper cooling (duh). Your CPU will churn out a lot of heat, same with the GPU and the case I feel is not dealing with it as its cheap and badly designed (you might want to remove the competitor name now i seen it :p ).

I would get a Antec 900 or something along those lines and get some decent cooling, it could take you back down 15-20 deg.

its all aska fans i have on the case.

i have the zalman 9700

its suddenly started to get hot because i changed montor

i dont really want to have to change a case as this ones justs newly built ran amd 4600+ on asus 939 board 2 ides. ran asus p5n-e sli e6600 + 2 ides 1 sata ran q6600 2 ides and sata

It doesn't much matter what type of fan it is, airflow is whats important. Best to have air in the front and out the back. From the looks of the image its in the back of the side then... out the back. Assuming the backfan is blowing outwards, which I would hope it was.

I'm really guessing now, maybe I should leave someone who knows about cooling to answer :D

Monitor change.. maybe a cause for GPU to pump out more heat? If you stepped up resolutions then it might be.

2 side fans are blowing air in 80mm
1 back fan blowing air out 80mm
1 empty fan slot at front 120 or 80/90

have you checked all fans are spinning normally, might be a bump while fitting new screen caused fan with bad bearing to stick?

check all are spinning about the same speed well as airflow being fast thru all.

make sure pc hasnt been physically moved when fitting monitor, so its now closer to walls or anything that might block airflow.

check all voltages are how you last set them/how they should be

make sure psu fan working ok, and hasnt had mode changed (i dunno if the hipers have this or not)

make sure no vents are clogged with dust

move to siberia.

That really doesn't seem that hot to me; the +25 degrees under load is perfectly normal. When my current PC was overclocked I was getting 80+ degrees on my X1800 and 65+ on my CPU and system temps while loaded. Of course my fans are in useful places so I was getting a nice warm exhaust out the back and top. I personally wouldn't trust the side fans - I know lots of people have them but I would've thought the airflow would be screwed up with side fans, especially with no front fan.

In any case those temps are almost comfortably touchable, so god knows what is making the case too hot to touch.

wortth getting another 120mm case fan

I would turn the side fans off: your 8800 should be venting out of the rear anyway so I doubt you'll see any difference. If these side fans are just sucking air in underneath or between all your PCI cards then it won't be flowing up to your exhaust any time soon. You have nothing drawing fresh air in apart from those fans though, so try to stick a fan down at the front of the case to suck air if you can; I can't see from that photo whether there are any vents down at the front though ...

Edit: the best check might be to take the side panels off your case and see what difference that makes to temperatures.

bought another 120mm fan for the front
its now runging at 44 the motherboard

still not sure what the problem is.

front fan sucking air in
back sucking air out
sidefans blowing in

zalmans working fine
hyper type r 530 watt

Just confirm for me exactly what the problem is because 44 is absolutely normal. Mine is about that much and I spent a fair bit on cooling. Is it a particular part of the case that is heating up? What is that case made of? If it's plastic it will get hot and stay hot ...

metal and it had one side pannel with plastic see threw window

bit at the back gets hot but thats obvious due to the power supply

but the bit i was more concerned about was the front where the cd drives was that was roasting along with the top bit near the front that was hot.

So i dont know some times i have a funny feeling the sensors on the motherboard are worng.

using everest ultimate engerneering edition to get the specs of the temps

This is the only part that I wouldn't expect to get hot

Maybe try taking out the optical drives to see whether one of these is overheating, or whether it is hot air collecting up there?

You could check in your BIOS if you are concerned about Everest, but it is unlikely that you'll have a sensor anywhere near that part of the case anyway, so if the heat is localised like you say it is doubtful that you'll really notice it on the sensors.

the motherboard reading might be wrong, but, i dont, like the look of that cooling arrangment, the whole idea is to have a constant flow of uninterupted air across the companants, creating a windtunnel effect, the two on the side are sucking air in, crossing paths with the fan sucking air out the back.

you say you have a fan mount for a 80/120mm fan at the front, by a couple of sharkoon silent fans (the golfball looking ones) disable the side fans and place one fan suckin in at front, one blowing out at back.

bet your temps are better.
