Hi guys, after trying the GA_965P_DS3 I've decided to keep clear of gigabyte.

What's the difference between 975X and 965P chipsets, or rather will either work just as well with any Core Duo. I have GEIL DDR2 800Mhz RAM and Intel Core 2 Duo E6320. Also 2 SATA II drives and IDE DVD drive (I could get a SATA one if there's a cheap alternative). It must have at least PCI-E for my Leadtek 7950 and 2xstandard PCI slots.

I want something reliable and reasonably fast but don't care about overclock ability. I can't afford anything too fancy, but quality over cheapness after my previous experience. Try to keep it around £100 though...

Why you are at it I also want a SILENT fan. Again I'm not doing overcloking but my PC doubles as TV/stereo so I want it as quiet as possible.

Thanks a bunch for any suggestions.

If you really don't want an overclockable board then have a look at the ASRock ConroeXFire-eSATA II as it's a good, fully featured chipset and the available benchtests show it to be as fast as an Intel 975X chipset.

It's silent, totally reliable and cheap.
