Mobo upgrade

Im looking into getting a new motherboard but im wanting to keep my Q6600, if i do this could i then use them same board to say upgrade to a i5 or i7?

Might be a silly question but just wondering if this is possible?

No you cant, your Q6600 uses LGA775 socket.

A modern Sandybridge i5/i7 uses socket 1155 with H61/H67/P67/Z68 chipset.

The new highend Sandybridge-E i7 use socket 2011 with X79

Even the older i5/i7 use socket 1156/1366 with H55/P55/X58 etc.
