moboard with onboard graphics equivalent to 9600 Ati

crap. I had a 9600 years ago, unless this is something else you are talking about.

I don't think you've understood me. I wondered what I could replace my ati 9600 graphics card with motherboard with onboard graphics .(edited to make sense)

Your right, i don't fully understand. Are you looking for a new motherboard (onboard graphics) or a new graphics card?

A list of the system spec is needed either way.

If you're looking for cheap, most am2+ boards have decent inboard - and you could get lucky unlocking a £70 phenom II 550 into a quad ;)

AMD have the best on-board GPU's, the 890GX/790GX/880G/785G.

Just make sure you get a board that includes SidePort Memory to get the most from it.

Yup, most AM2+/AM3 boards come with the HD4200 integrated graphics which is actually pretty good (my wife's laptop (HD4200m) can play L4D reasonably well).

Intels equivilant is the HD4500 which is ok as long as you don't want to touch games (even causually). I believe it does support HD video hardware acceleration although I don't know how good it is.

Nvidias solution is something like the 9400m or G105m which is roughly equivilant to the ATI/AMD offering.

Personally if you just want a cheap decent performing system I would look at one of the cheaper AM2+/AM3 boards coupled with a Athlon II 240/250. Performance is great and so is the price.

Actually Intel have the HD Graphics in their i3 and i5 CPUs although performance is very variable because the top end i5 IGP is 900mhz and the bottom end i3 IGP is 533mhz. (which is very bad for FPS)

My media centre in the bedroom uses a Gigabyte GA-MA785GM-US2H (about£65) that has Integrated ATI Radeon HD4200 with vga,dvi and hdmi, which unlocked the 2nd core of a 45W AMD Sempron 140(£26).
