Any one know of any that can be done or have been or what you would do to one?

Bar hardwear upgrades?

I got a Dell D610 for free so if she dies it's all okay but it's dead easy to take apart and get new parts as i have found out so far!
 
I though about cutting some of the plastic and some wire mesh insted!

Memory cover, take thats off, 2/3mm trim of plastic round edge maybe and then wire mesh. Okay one ram slot be open to air too cool but the other is under my keybord!

The base maybe everywhere eles i can on the base.
 
Why not mould on some monster skin using body filler and spray it monster green and pick out the highlights with a brush. I did a turtle shell on my mobile phone and it came out pretty well.
 
Paint it gloss black and add silver mesh to the lid (with black plastic behind so it does not affect the screen) /photoshops
 
The painting it gloss black, mesh and led in HSF and other sounds good idea!

I got the servce manual today for on how to take it apart.

Just ordered my 160GB HD, 2GB ram and bluetoothe modual so it's all going sweet.

Stil lawating my drivers disc so a few nasty e-mails have been sent.

RB customs will be the man to do the spraying, alredy have spoken with on this!

I think mesh on the top, keeping the dell bit in there!!!, mesh on the pam pad, above the HD and GFX defo and the base.

unfortunately dead links have appeared and although not specific to your laptop, you should find some useful stuff.

i have a Lattitude latop that i've been planning on modding at some point, but i'm a total n00b at paining anything let alone trying to get a nice finnish on a laptop :/ so i was looking at getting a sparce chasis to work on ;)

one thing i wanted to do was replace the dell badge in the middle of the lid, i thought there might be a chance of finding some replacement badges on the net but as far as i can see there is no such thing :confused: seeing as you can pretty much buy anything else, i though there would actually be a market for ppl who want replace their vanilla dell badges.

I shall dude, i've the manual here in electronic format for the Latitued D610, seams to cover all Latitude range! Pics to help with it too. Only cost me £1.50!

I found a great webstore that do replacment plastic parts for it too as i need a new base as mine is cracked, only £39 inc vat and delivery for the bottom plastic part!

I'll maybe start soemthing Monday on it, soon a si take it apart again i'll get you pics and post them here for you all.

Oh and i'm thinking of upgrading the fan, extra cooling there and then to the lot! We'll see however,

Someone said what not make it water cooled!!! Good idea kinda if at home and it's not going to be moved about but it need to be mobile
 
Ooo i just got an e-mail, well one i found in my junk off a carbon fiber surplier i use to use for custom work. An all carbon fiber case with sections removed and the uber nice anodized mesh under it be way cool!!!

Think i may have to strip this and see what parts make the case and how easy it be to mould them!
 
i saw some nice mods where ppl had cut out sections of the area left or right of the touchpad, and put various types of mesh in the space. they looked pretty good and offered extra cooling to some degree. some added led's etc under and they were ace.
 
I haven't seen any mods as such but it's what i'm thinking of!

The LD side of thing i found some SMD styled LED's which could dead handy as well as some nice 3mm blue ones
 
Hey Tom no worrise dude i'm pretty dam handy but i don;t fancy doing any more big mods to stuff like idid on my bad axe mobo, 80 mods in total...out how fun was that!!!
 
Okay it's all up and running now, going to replace the SMD LEDS that say num lock, caps lock, wi/fi, bluetooth, power, hd activity, charging.

There a nasty yello right now thinking of blue or a mixture of colors!!!
