A friend's been telling me about a mod I can do to my infinity in which it uses bolts instead of the crap Intel Push-Pin mounting scheme. I've done some googling and I've still yet to find out how to do it. The reason for me doing this is that my Infinity is so heavy the pins can't support it as well anymore and it idles at 50C and loads at 77C. I've no mechanical knowledge or experience whatsoever and I wouldn't know where to start with this mod. Is it possible I could maybe pay someone who has more experience than me to possibly get the raw materials, make the mount and send it over? (obviously I'd cover all the materials price + labour).

Get four bolts, m4 should work with the corresponding nuts/washers (and some plastic washers).

Place a plastic washer on each bolt and put through the mounting holes from the back of the board.

Remove the pins from the mounting plate on the infinity.

Line the cooler up so the bolts go through the holes on the mounting plate.

Put a washer on each bolt and then screw the nuts down until it's on there tight.

It's how I have my freezer 7 fitted :)

aye - i did it with my scythe ninja as well when i broke one of the plastic pins.

Used some small nuts and bolts from local diy shop and also some plastic screw covers (the ones u usually fine covering screw heads in your kitchen etc) as the plastic washers and used pretty much the same process as Raikiri.

No major hassles and you can get a good tight (not to tight mind you) fitting to the board.

Thanks! What's an "M4 Bolt" though?

It's the size - ask for it in your local DIY store - just make sure you use the plastic washer to insulate the bottom of the mobo from the nut or you'll short it out!
