Is anyone having any luck modding morrowind? I got MGE working but I get the following errors trying to run Morrowind's Riches, Better Bodies and Visual Pack:

Texture "Textures\_land_default.tga" count 3.
Texture "Textures\menu_thick_border_bottom_right_corner.dds" count 2.

When I enter a new game (no saves yet) the graphics are basically the same except that my character and all the NPCs are shrouded in yellow and purple blocks.

I've tried loading the mods into the steam directory for the game and the morrowind directory in the bethesda folder. No idea what to try next.

If you found Oblivion boring, chances are you won't like Morrowind either.

Can see where you're coming from as the styles are similar. But i must admit i couldnt get very far with oblivion before i got bored on my first playthrough, but on the other hand i engaged quite well with morrowind.

They're not the same game, but one could be forgiven for saying that they're similar :)

I tried that turned off steam's in-game overlay thingamajig too, no luck.

I deleted all the local content, reinstalled, hopefully I'll have more luck tomorrow.

Dude...they are more than a little similar! I have played through both including the expansions and whilst they certainly have their differences the gameplay and atmosphere is very similar indeed.

With regards to modding it, it seems this is the main weakness of Steam in its current form. :(

I enjoyed morrowind thoroughly for 3+ years. I got bored of Oblivion after 3 months.

Then when I went back to play morrowind, it just didnt feel right as it felt too slow and clunky in comparison.

Oblivion kind of ruined the series for me, I dont know why but I just couldnt get into it.

I absolutely loved morrowind, played it a hell of a lot, oblivion came out and I was looking forward to it for ages, was such a major dissapointment when I got my hands on it,

Was dumbed down like crazy to suit the console idiots

Except for combat. Combat in Morrowind let it down a lot. Both exceptional games though.

Focus on your main skills and grind for a while and the combat gets a lot better but it's definitely the game's weak point.

Still having no luck with getting the visuals pack to work. Extracted it to 'data files', altered the dates of the relevant .esm and .bsa files, turned off overlay, no joy. Am I the only person having this problem?

I prefer Morrowind to Oblivion. Might have to give it a go, never did finish it.

Downloading GOTY edition, absolute steal for £3.25, three games. :) I shall be joining the brigade of people who buy cheap steam games and rarely get the chance to play them while they stack up in their library, lol. :D
