Hi there,

Ok, I've had my new case now for about 3 weeks and I still haven't painted the ugly beige FDD on the front of it. Basically I need some tips, advice for painting my FDD black please!

Any help, tips, advice would be much appreciated, thanks!

Ive never done this myself before, but what I would think you would need to do is remove the front bezel from the floppy drive, then remove the springy flap on the bezel and then get a spray can and spray then each separatly, oh and also you should be able to remove the button from the drive aswell and give that a spray :)

Anybody still running windows xp :/ as i have found out lately.

Trying to reinstal xp onto a laptop that needed drivers for the sata drive. It will only accept them on floppy :/ (laptop has no fdd) what can you do?
Wont take them from cd/usb drive.
v annoying

XP SP2 install disc then  I've installed XP onto three SATA based PC's with no need for SATA driver disc to be inserted.

Tried booting off raid?

That needs drivers on a floppy. Then again, i have a USB floppy drive, so i don't have a FDD on any of my computers bar my monowall. :)

ah maybe it was raid drivers i needed then. I cant remember, i just remember i needed a floppy drive :@

It will cost less to get a new black drive than the price of the paints + your time.

Or, make that 3.5" bay useful and put a card reader + floppy drive combo in.

I would invest in a straight desk, that one appears to have a side missing . . . . You must be using No More Nails to keep everything on it . . .

Hardly ever, anyway I have decided after considering most of your comments to get a black FDD. As Caged mentioned, for the paint and the hassle of having to dismount the front of the drive, and faff around for a fiver I could have just got a new one. So I have gone and done just that!

When I put my beige FDD in my Zen case I just didn't mount it so it was flush with the front, this enabled me to keep the blanking plate in place but is still easily accessible (remove the plate) when I need it.

Just mount it backwards in a hardrive bay so its out of sight. I mean how often do you use it anyway?

This is a great way of keeping one in the case but out of sight and stopping the case from being ugly...but I never used mine and the cables were restricting airflow, so I just removed it completely.

If you still must have one, backwards mounting it out of sight is deffinatly the way to go.
