Modding the Antec Skeleton

Cheers mate, its my 1st build as well so really chuffed with it.

I have used the coilcovers over the UV tubes to help hide them, one at the front and one of the left side as you look at it. With regards to the front connection cables I have tried to bunch them together as much as possible. Taking it apart this afternoon again to replace the red SATA`s with blue UV ones, so i`ll post some more pics later on. Think i`m going to go for the same CPU cooler as yours.
Full set up is, Intel E8600, 2gig Corsair Dominator, XFX 8800GTX, Asus P5Q, EZ Cool PS-900, XP Pro, 19" Gateway LCD. (soon to be replaced)

Thanks for posting the pics randel, love the idea of the coil covers on the UVs. How are you finding it to work on, I find it a bit tight to get the psu and pci cables fed through from the back up through the hole in th emiddle, but apart from that not bad. Have you worked out that you can lift off the whole silver plastic arch section just by undoing 4 screws, one at the bottom of each leg. Still can't get my front cabling to a state i'm happy with, but might get some more antikink coil and wrap it round a few bunching them together (think that might be what you've done, if so kudos to you).

interesting read lads, got one of these on the way so will be watching closely!
currently have a 240 and 120 rad in my case so will deffo be trying to squeese some of it in. was thinking some mesh too, maybe at the sides with perspex at the front?

This, I want to see. Can I just ask why none of you bought a Banchetto?

Out of interest, how did you manage to fit that Zalman CNPS9700 HSF, (I have one of them in my Coolermaster case), all the write ups on the skeleton say you cannot fit anything but a standard HSF because of hight restrictions.

Because they're £200 ;)

I'll be getting a banchetto though this payday. They're just so much nicer! I'll save it for when i've got all my watercooling ready to go on though. No point opening up my supersonic, earbursting 8800GT to the elements just yet

Do you have a banchetto walter?

I didn`t buy one of these because I liked the Antec more. I think the Banchetto can look good if you want to use water cooling. Can you imagine the Banchetto when you have all the cables going everywhere and there is no protection really for you bits and bobs. But each to there own.

And as for they are so much nicer, well its all down to your taste isn`t it.

Uh huh. And in my opinion, it's much nicer. Is that alright?

LOL it sure is... at least its not a big red alien head. I have to admit it looks very cool when all the water cooling is set up on it and all neat, but as for an air cooled set up its a no go. When you get yours sorted mate, make sure you stick some pictures on. The only main fault is its not family friendly i.e. pets, childrens, women etc....... Can you imagine the wife cleaning around it. OUCH

Luckily i only need to worry about the girlfriend and she knows better than to touch anything that looks expensive ;)

Yeah i'll put pics up :) it'll be all tubed up too fromt he WC so should look decent!

Need to know if you can fit 1x 240 and 1x 120 in the 360 rad bracket though, wouldnt mind two loops.

Fitted just fine in the normal way, attached it to cpu on mobo tray and slid it in as it should, however it was very much a case of a few more microns of paste and it would've been raised too high. I reckon there aren't too many non stock fans that will fit apart from this type. there's a fair few makes of this "type" around, but look out for the ones with the larger diameter fans as they won't slide in. You can fit some slightly larger cooler types, but the mobo tray won't slide in and out, instead you have to undo the 4 screws at the base of the legs and lift the whole arch assembly off. No biggy really, but a bit more fiddly than just sliding out the whole mobo tray. thought i'd chuck in a few pics to show clearances. Looking forward to seeing a few more pics of peoples rigs here, esp the water cooled jobby.....can it be done????

After a bit of research i'm thinking of a Microcool Banchetto if I go for an open case...

Way down the shopping list though.

Did think of the Banchetto myself, as it does look nice. Prob better suited to water cooling than the antec. more of a pure test bed and less of a half breed.

so the case is here, need some cable management though. how short is the one for the front jacks?!
have sized up some rough water ideas, will put some pictures up at some point, need to source some mesh and that too. oh and rma my ram, way too little time. first impressions good, really cold next to it so cant be bad.

okey dokey, first rough go shows that a rad would fit above the dvd drive but would struggle to any fans in there, maybe one at the back but airflow is going to be restricted. will need to move the psu round although that would make sense anyway, why is it side mounted with the option to move 1" toward the hard drive? add to that the long loop going over the board then back again, it does make an easier fit for a res top pump though.
not sure if the tubing will melt being so close to the exhaust of the x2!

next is the winner (i think), plenty of room at the back for double fans or/and even a triple rad. should be able to make a bracket to fit onto the case, only real issue is squeezing the pump in. a res top will not be easy to fill so maybe a port instead? the good news is that the loop could slide out with the rest of the tray.

ideas (no, not buy a better case!) always welcome please:D

It looks to me like the only realistic way to implement decent water cooling with this case is to have a separate rad/pump/rez box, perhaps have the case sat on top with tubes passing through the rad box roof. Make it all in perpex and it could look in keeping with the thing. Routing the tubes such that they don't bugger up the sliding mobo functionality without ridiculous tube slack will be the difficult thing.

quick update, a bulgin switch fits just about perfect in place of the boring power switch on this case.plus it is loads longer, the old one has cables too short to hide. didnt bother posting a pic, just imagine a bulgin switch with a green light on the case!
