I am wanting to buy the 800D corsair case from OCUK,

I want a 120.3 rad at top as you would expect however I also want another 120.2 or possible 120.3 at the bottom.

Has anyone seen this mod or done it, how hard it it to fit rad at the bottom of the case? Go any pics?

I googled but didnt get much info on it :(

Also any other mods done to the case?

A 120.2 will fit in the bottom section, but needs the lower hdd cage removed by drilling out the rivets. I`ve got some pictures of mine at home I can post up later for you.

yes please that would be a big help. If I was to install the 120.2 is there much work needed to run the tubing.

This is my main goal, to have a 120.3 in the roof and a 120.2 in the bottom.

No problem, will upload them when I get home later.

I decided to drill a single larger diameter hole in the shelf, rather than route the tubing through the two that are there already. I used 90 degree fittings at the radiator as there isn`t that much space available once a thick radiator is in there.

I also moved the stock fan to the upper face of the shelf.

I have done this. You will need to remove the bottom hdd bay as demonoid suggested and you will need to cut holes in the bottom of your case to hold it in place.

You can mount it sideways or flat, there is enough room either way.

Pics are in my build log :)

Thanks for the links guys, pretty much got the idea how its done.

Thinking of a 120.4 in the roof of the case which will cool the MB and cpu, thinking another loop with a 120.2 for the Gfx.

What the best 120.2 rad?

What airflow are you looking for? High, medium or low?

For high airflow fans, the BIX is the best

For medium/low speed fans, the Thermochill rad is the a really good one to go with.

Thought I had more pictures, but these show what it looks like with the lower hdd bay out. From memory, 6 rivets need drilled out and 2 need to be re-fitted to keep the shelf attached to the front panel.

And the hole I drilled for the hoses

Hope these help.:)

Thanks Nam i want a quite system so ill use the thermochill. Any idea whats the quietest fans i can use on the rads. I really want a silent system.

demonoid-gnome, wow thanks for the pics really gives a better idea. So the tools ill need are a dremel, pop rivits and gun and a jogsaw. I need to be sure i have everything as ill be doing this at night and really do only have 2 evenings max to complete as doing at my friends.

I have the apogee XT block and just 1 DDC pump at moment. I see your using 1/2 tubing. What angle fittings will I need and is it possible to have 2 loops using 2 pumps but just a single reservoir?

I used these. http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=WC-040-OK&groupid=962&catid=1529&subcat= on adaptors to suit the thermochill thread.

If you want to go dual loop with single reservoir I`d recommend the dual DDC pump top/res combo. Since those pics were taken I`ve mounted the two DDC pumps on one of these and found it to be much better. Just had a quick look, but OCUK don`t seem to have any in stock though.

They slot into the drive bays and take up much less space than the way I had originally mounted them in the pic. There is a slight snag in that the small tabs sticking into the drive bays need to be cut out to enable it to slide in, but it`s easily done.

Depending on where you locate your radiator, you might only get 4 screws into solid material but that`s enough to keep it in place. I left all the original perforations in place and used a holesaw to remove a suitable amount of the bottom of the case.

You`ll need some small drill bits to drill out the rivets and radiator mounting holes, but sounds like you`ve got the rest covered.:D If you`re cutting a hole in the shelf for tube routing, some rubber blowhole trim tidies the edge up nicely.

As far as fans go I used Apache`s with a bigNG fan controller and you can barely hear them. I`ve had Yate Loon`s in the past and they`ve also been good, and are a bit cheaper too.

Hope it all goes well for you.:)

Hi thanks for the reply lots of info which is helping me get this sorted.

Did you mean this would be ideal

My DDC ultra I have now has the perspex top on, so id remove that buy another DDC and fit them into this above?

Yes, that`s the one. It just acts like the top you already have, but with a res too. The black face plate that comes with it matches the case pretty well.

The dividing wall between the two halves mean you can have different coloured fluid in each loop if you like. I`ll take some pics later and post them up for you to see if it will help.

When you`re bleeding the air bubbles out, it`s helpful if you can insert something like a pci slot blanking plate through the filling point to interrupt the flow. The plastic 90 degree bends you see in the pic are right over the pump inlet and air bubbles just get dragged right through if you don`t. It`s not essential but will improve the time taken to bleed it fully.

Hope this helps.:)

Quiet fans are:
Sharkoon silent eagle
Akasa apache/apache black
Noiseblocker
Fractal
Bangra
Gelid

These are ones that we have used in builds and/or in our own rigs at home

I use the noiseblocker fans :) Hope this helps

demonoid-gnome, thanks for the advice. I defiantly think this res/pump top will be better suited as it makes the most of the drive bay area which normally gets left blank in my builds.

NAM_killer, thanks again for your advice. I have seen the noiseblockers been used on lots of water builds lately. I will put these at the top of my list and when I get a moment read some more into the reviews.

Thanks again for the advice, i will get together the list of bits I plan to buy and if ok check back and be sure I have not missed anything before I click the buy button.
