Model making?

for some reason i have the itch to do a small basic airfix style model! not done anything like that since i was younger, and thought it would be a nice thing to do at my desk in the evening!

where does one start with something like this? any essential equipment needed?

suggestions on best beginner kits would be cool too!

Strange, I had this exact thought a few days ago when I passed through a shop displaying some Airfix models.

The basics should be supplied, e.g. glue. You will need to buy the paint and a few thin brushes to paint them up. A stanley knife and cutting board will also help as often the parts are difficult to pull off their holders without breaking them.

I used to love working on Warhammer models despite not doing a lot of it or being very good at it. maybe one day i'll have enough time for it again

never got into playing it though.

You want the revell glue with the long needle nozzle on it (you can thank me later)

Tamiya is a good brand to start with, their kits are well made, easy to put together and they have a fantastic range to choose from.

Funny, I have the past few weeks ordered a load of model equipment and a few Gundam models. Have one from ages ago but never painted it. Always admired them and recently I reminded myself about them and thought what the hell.

Ordered one 1/100 MG kit and a few BB kits for a laugh. most stuff shipping from Japan so will not have any kits and all equipment until September. Been watching loadsa youtube videos in the meantime get some tips on painting techniques as gonna do this properly.

No, tamiya extra thin cement is better. It doesn't stick, it gets super hot and melts the plastic, so that when it cools down it welds together. Much better than that Revell stuff.
