Right. So I have these 2 stunning girl - friends who want photos taken of them becuase they are all tanned and in good shape from a month of dancing and lying on the beach under the Cuban sun.

They are leaning towards an outdoor shoot and my only equipment is;

Fuji s9500 (28-300mm *135 equiv. FIXED LENS)
Polarizer filter
Tripod

What should I be looking into getting? Where should I be going to take the photos, is their a certain backdrop that works best?

If I were to do an indoor shoot due to really bad weather or something. What gear could I hire out and what would the costs be?

i've no idea about the camera's....... but just make sure they are :

a) naked
b) covered in baby oil
Then the camera and the floor would all be covered in vomit becuase they are both like my sisters

Thanks for the great advice though :p

I see we could be in for no helpful answers in this thread... ;)

So I will offer some REAL advice...

What you need is an assistant with a mix of film slr, digital slr, portable lighting and various lenses to lend you.

That would be my goodself. You helped me with my bird shots in Africa earlier this year, so I'll help you with your bird shots. :D

*Don't worry Colin.... Someone will have some proper advice soon I'm sure.... But you've got to expect this kind of behaviour from us considering the usual standards around here. ;)

If you want to keep it cheap and cheerful, I think you will have to do it outside with that kit. Onboard Flash on that camera? Going to play havoc and be really unflattering. Go outside, maybe use a reflector (held by an assistant ;)) to reduce unwanted shadows. At least oustside with a few clouds you'll have a cheap softbox.

As for location, talk to the girls. Maybe they have a few ideas where they would feel most comfortable. Is there anywhere in the local countryside, buildings of interest, absolutely anything really? They are the main subjects in the pictures after all. :)

Before hiring, just go for a test run with the kit you have. It's not going to cost you much to try. Make a DIY reflector out of some white card. If you're unhappy, then start looking at hiring some other gear.

Have a good think about the light you want.

Sun light makes skin (especially tanned skin) look great, but can be hard to control.

I've no studio experience so can't offer an advice on that front.

Have fun
