Hey all,

this has probabaly been gone over quite a few times but i used the search tool but i didnt really get a solid answer (or link).

Ive got 2 ADSL modems atm:

Segam 800
Zoom ADSL

I cant find any drivers for them that actually work in Vista 64 - this is really annoying as I cant really do much atm on Vista.

Has anyone got any link or something?

Thanks :)

Think a router might be the best option for you as those modems are fairly old I think and there may be no vista drivers for them. Specially not before the 30th anyway.

definatly get a router

its easy to setup and you don't need to install any software, you just plug in ethernet, follow the simple instructions, enter your username and password once, save it and it'll work :)

-to add another pc to the router, you simply plug the ethernet cable in and it'll auto connect to the net (both can use web at the same time etc)

a lot safer than using a modem too, basically its a hardware firewall between you and the net

this or this is perfect (i always use linksys ones myself)

Well the router would use NAT so unless you allow traffic to get to your PC then nothing would be able to get from the router to the PC. Most of the time the Windows firewall will suffice as a backup to the routers security.

once you get a router you'll never look back

usb is poor for internet connectivity..

ethernet is designed specifically for it

I was looking around on the internet this morning and I found this:

It says they work in Vista 64 but the file's only 1 single .bin file?

Anyone know how to install this? wanna try everything before I start buying a router :)

I guess you'll have to make a .CUE file, then use nero to burn image to CD, select the .CUE, and Voila.

Plenty of guides on the net for making .CUE files, thery are only a couple of lines in notepad, i would let you know myself, but its absolute eons since ive done a .CUE file so i can't remember, all i remember is its a couple of lines in notepad, ones the filename of the .BIN others i forget, then you just save it as a .CUE. :)

Here you go type this in notepad, i found some lying around. :D

FILE "image-name.BIN" BINARY
TRACK 01 MODE1/2352
INDEX 01 00:00:00

Image-name is the name of the .BIN, so for example if you your .BIN file was called pictures.BIN, then the above would be :-

FILE "pictures.BIN" BINARY
TRACK 01 MODE1/2352
INDEX 01 00:00:00

Save that as a .CUE in notepad into the same folder as the .BIN, then as above, burn as image using nero, select the .CUE, then you have a bootable CD.
