Hey Folks,

I'm just about to get myself a shiny new router since i've moved house and broke my old one, oops. After a long day of making out with google i've decided to go up in the world with the Netgear WNDR3700 which seems to be a pretty good contender. The issue is it doesn't have a built in ADSL modem, it's listed on OC as a cable router but my internet comes down the phone line and so i'm thinking I need a modem to use with it... what can you suggest / recommend? Does anyone have this router, if so what modem are you using with it? The cheaper the better since the router is quite a pricey one...

I've also read a bit about DD/WRT... i've noticed its now supported for this router, can anyone confirm whether its worth getting for this router?

Any help appreciated :)

Cheers,

Matt / MSFX

The DGN3500 would have suited your needs! ;)

I did glance over the DGN3500 but I was looking forward to being on 5GHz leaving my neighbours crowded on 2.4GHz...

I have the same router. I use the baby draytek modem with it.

just had a quick search, do you know of anything cheaper that I could use instead? Was it easy enough to setup?

sorry, pal I don't know of anything cheaper, when I bought the router I assumed it had a modem built in when I realised it had not I just googled my options and bought the draytek cos it seemed easier than messing about with other modems which had routers built in and which you need to switch stuff off to get it to work with the wndr. I'm not well up on networks and from what I remember it was a doddle to set up, which is why I bought it. unfortunatelty the whole lot cost more than I would have liked to pay but I was getting withdrawal symptoms as my old one was broke.
