Need a ADSL modem for vista doesnt need wi-fi .... a friends recently upgraded his computer and his current modem (from supanet) is not vista compatable.

he is going to ring and ask them for a replacment but in case they say no... any help?

cheers.

Dont know if I am correct in saying this but every ADSL modem I have had I made sure it was a router too and connect to it using the RJ45 network cable and it bypasses the whole loading driver thing and is independant of whatever OS you are using. Never had a problem yet :)

Personally like the Netgear ADSL modem/routers

I'd agree on the modem/router in one option as it caters for getting internet on more than one computer. An example is this: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=NW-017-NG&groupid=46&catid=1012&subcat=

You can also get them without wireless if thats something your friend is interested in.

However if your friend is just after the modem then you can get ethernet modems such as this one: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=NW-059-LS&groupid=46&catid=418&subcat=

Both options should work by just plugging into a network card. No drivers required and no un needed bloated software.
