Hi lads and lasses.

Does the LAN port a modem have to be the same speed as the router I plan to buy?

For instance an Asus N56u has gigabit ports. Will the modem bottleneck if it hasn't got a gigabit port on it?

I would appreciate some clarification.

Not unless your broadband connection is faster than 100Mbps.

It will work regardless. You only need to match gigabit ports if all your devices and cabling is gigabit.
