Good news for VM peeps, looking to circumvent the woeful SouperHub (sic).....seems the R30 firmware beta testing is more or less done, and successful, and we may get FW pushed out next week

Yep, yep, although - for me - *just* want the Modem mode and then I can ignore the rest of the SH's (many !) failings, with my trusty DIR-655 back in service :D

...<snip>...Still, I would even go as far as saying I might not bother plugging in a seperate router at all... until I come across something in the quite basic feature set in the SH I need and it doesn't have.

For me, that is DDNS and port-forwarding limitations....
Roll on the 'Big Push' :D

What he said ^^
For me, I want my DIR655 back in service, as the SoupHoob does not allow sufficient number of port forwards, no QoS and - most importantly - no DDNS support :(

Modem mode will give me a proper, working network again, courtesy of the '655 and the SH can just be content as a modem !

Fair enough, but couldnt you have done that by setting up your DIR 655 as DMZ in the Superhub?

I just couldn't get this to work
I used this approach to get my Synology DS up and running, meaning threw it in DMZ to allow external access, but - for some reason - could not get the DIR655 to play ball

R30 rocks for me so far....by which I mean simply eveything is off in modem-mode and the DIR655 is back in da houze ! :p

Our R30 firmware includes the following changes:

1. Adds the Modem Mode feature.

2. Incorporates fixes for lock-ups (where the Super Hub appears unresponsive to traffic and the admin pages are unavailable) and reloads (where the Super Hub would reload for no apparent reason) while under heavy load in 2.4 and 5 GHz wireless modes. These symptoms were caused by a memory leak in the 2.4GHz and 5GHz wireless driver. As part of these fixes we've changed the number of channels available under 5GHz to 4.

Modem-mode has been just dandy for me :)
No idea if the SH works better or not, with R30, but happy to have a fully functioning network and services again !
