Hi, I'm trying to fix my lag problems, if i cant I will have to buy a new modem.

Using tracert, my modem appears to have around 50ms (on ethernet) and this shouldn't be happening. One suggestion was that my lag was because of the different the ip ranges (modem - 10.0.0.2) (Router - 192.168.1.1)

To fix this I have tried setting the modem's ip to 192.168.1.2 and have the router assign under DHCP to 192.168.1.4, but now I can't connect to the internet, its as if the modem or router is not using DNS anymore. I can connect the router but not the modem using IP addresses, but the router is being assigned an ip and is registering the modem as the gateway?

Any ideas, I really don't want to buy a new modem :(

*UPDATE* I have just plugged directly to the modem and I'm having no problems. I will try with the router without the firewall switched on.
