basically i am thinking of installing vista 32 bit or 64bit but my crappy bt voyager 105 has no support for vista as yet so im looking to buy another modem or cheap router that has these drivers available.oh another thing im with aol and think i heard that only some routers are compatable with aol.

If you use a network card and a router then you won't need to install any drivers.

In theory, any router that allows you to adjust the MTU (to 1400) should work fine with AOL.

If your going to buy new hardware, get a router that connects via ethernet, make sure it's a NAT router too otherwise you may not be able to do some things you could do with your USB modem. It's a good investment because if AOL decide to offer MAX DSL (free upgrade to 8Mb connection if your line can support it) like a lot of ISP's are starting too you will more than likely need a router to get the higher speed.

thats what i thought and i phoned aol tech and they said the bt voyager 105 can handle speeds up to 8meg

AOL "tech" don't have a clue though.

Neither NAT nor a router are required for IPStream Max, but an ethernet connection and useful stats (SNR margin, attenuation, error counters) are - it's more luck than anything else that routers happen to be the cheapest such devices.
