Modem/router to replace BT Infinity-HH5

So I am looking to replace my BT inifinity home hub 5 with something that is faster and more stable. I will also be adding a BT set top box next week so any new router would have to play nice with that.

I was looking at the TP-LINK Archer D9 AC1900 as it seems to hit the price/performance sweet spot but wanted to make sure this model is compatible and is the right choice.

Interested to hear your opinions.

Cheapish: ASUS or Billion
More expensive but better: PfSense or Ubiquiti with Separate Ubiquiti Access Point.

That approach would also need a separate VDSL modem

Ah, I just assumed he was on Fibre so would need a separate modem anyways.
