modem/router??

Hi all, i am after a modem/router as i am moving into a new flat for uni and main modem is in another room. i hate wireless and i want cable. there is a phone socket in my room so i can have a modem in my room.
What do you guys suggest?

Main modem? Is it ADSL?

yeh i want a second one, and the main one is in another room. and i want one to put in my room

You can't have two modems unless you have two phone lines. You would have to disconnect the first modem if you wanted to plug your own in the extension socket, which isn't recommended.

cant you have two places in the home which picks up internet? swear other people have

is it a Cable/DSL router i need then? can that be plugged into a second phone socket?

You would need a seperate phone line, your own connection and subscription for that.

Just run some cat5e cable from the router to your pc.

Or move the router to your room if your house mates don't mind using wireless

Alternatively, you could use homeplugs and keep the router where it is..
