I am looking to put a PC together for about £500 for moderate gaming. I have come up with the following spec. I want to ensure all components are compatible. Is the PSU up to it? Is this the right memory? Note, I am sticking to AMD as I have had no trouble from them.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4200+ 2.20GHz (Socket AM2) - OEM
Asus M2N-SLi Deluxe (Socket AM2) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
OcUK 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400 800MHz DDR2 Dual Channel Kit
BFG GeForce 8600 GT OC 256MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail
Antec NSK6500 Super Midi Tower Case - 430W PSU
Zalman CNPS9500-AM2 Aero Flower (Socket AM2/939/754) CPU Cooler
Samsung SpinPoint P SP2504C 250GB SATA-II 8MB Cache - OEM
Akasa SATA-2 45cm Silver Data Cable
Samsung SH-S182D 18x18 DVD±RW ReWriter (Black) - OEM

Are there any big improvements for a little extra money :p

don't bother with the SATA cable, you'll get one in the mobo box

for a budget pc looks fine. CPU is a bit wimpy though, only £12 to go up to 2.4ghz

you could also get a non-sli mobo and save some money if you wanted to.

psu should be fine, but i must say i never like psu's that come with cases, luckily antec are a good make so it should be ok.

Yes, the PSU in my current Antec case blew when we had a power cut, must get a UPS. Any PSUs recommended? I've never put one in a case before so have steered clear of that, is it fairly easy?

really easy. 4 screws and the psu can only go in one direction otherwise the screws don't line up.

if you wanted to re-use your current case and get a new psu then you have a large choice. i like Tagan, Enermax, OCZ, Seasonic anything in the 400-500w range would be my recommendation.
