as the title suggests i want a pair of moderatly priced headphones that have a wire, by the price scale i mean up to about 120 quid, i can stretch higher if needed and not interested in a mic or inline controls, im happy with my steel series apex 7 keyboard for controls and its only for my pc :)

the main use will be watching stuff and playing games, typical pc gamer stuff :)

im currently using a very cheapo pair of sony mdr-xb450 and i fancy a upgrade, i do like bass as i listen to loads of hardcore but i found the base on this cheapo pair way to much and done every thing i could to reduce the bass plus i dont use headphones to listen to music much.

i loved my mates speakers that were reference sound ones i just cant remember the name of them and would like the neutral reference sound on my new head phones if that makes sense im drunk :p

their gonna get used on my pc with a soundblaster z card

any ideas?

I took a chance on these because I had their awesome Between Pro in-ears.
They are as good as my £300 Beyer Dynamics when equalised.

Beyerdynamic TYGR 300R. £119 so a quid within budget, open-back, very low Ohm/sensitivity rating so don't need a DAC/AMP and can be run from anything. Fantastic for gaming (competitive or not) and really good for movies or music. Feels like the obvious answer, albeit assumes open-back headphone is OK.

You could also go Sennheiser HD 560S for c.£130 atm as well but they may scale better with a DAC/AMP.

If wanting closed-back then Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro (£depends but 110-130 maybe) or AKG K361 (c.£90). The former would need to be the 32/80 Ohm version without an AMP.

All of these options are pretty neutral too.

Do not link to other resellers.

It’s a forum rule (even if your referring to a product that OC doesn’t sell)

The DT 770 and DT 900 are very similar.

the mods have stated several times it is ok to mention the likes of amazon as long as your not mentioning something they directly sell.

I use Beyerdynamic dt990 Edition headphones. I think they come in just over budget on the rainforest but you can get the dt990 Pro for under budget. Both basicially the same just the Edition version looks a little nicer as its designs for home use where as the Pro is meant for studio/professional use

the dt770 pro head set got delivered this morning, cheers guys it is exactly what i wanted :)

tried it on my note 10+ as soon as i unwrapped them and got em out the box and used my old usb to 3.5mm conector and they sounded good with some happy hardcore and tubular bells 2, i then went and hooked em up to the pc and holy moly the sound is amazing, cheers guys, they are also super comfy, i have never encountered such comfort with head phones.

i think im in love with them they are far superior to the ones they replaced and they go super loud on the pc with the 80 ohm version with the added bonus i can use em on my phone :D
