Hey all,

just talking to my wife as shes sat playing crash bandicoot 3 on the ps3 and wondering if there is any modern day platformers that still stick to the same or a very similar format to the original crash games?

the only recent games i can think of are LBP and rayman origins, she like LBP but hasnt played rayman yet.

any suggestions to games she should try? she loves the 2d sonic and mario games also so simple question is any standout recent 2d/2.5d platformers she should try out

Rayman really is the pinnacle of 2D platforming this generation imo, i would get that asap.

Braid is pretty decent but is more of a puzzle game.

Limbo is very good but very creepy

Shadow Complex was excellent but that's got quite a bit of shooting as well as platforming.

Yup, my Mrs also wanted to play games like Crash Bandicoot - bought her Rayman Origins last Christmas and she absolutely loved it.

It's simple enough so that people who are not great at games can enjoy it, but complex enough for people who want to do all the extra stuff.

Tried the PS1 Spyro games? They're not exactly the same as the levels and hub worlds are more open but they're sstill really fun games from that era.

ratchet & clank?

she tried it but doesnt like the shooting side of it, she likes, for lack of a better term, hand to hand combat.

the only other games she has really got into this generation is the batman arkham games as she likes the combat on that too, shes also a big batman nut.

thinking about it she also enjoys lego batman as its a hand to hand game.

In that case we then begin to delve into the realms of hack n slash. Has she ever tried the God of War trilogy? My ex loved the series as the storyline is excellent as well as it having very solid gameplay. Devil May Cry, Bayonetta etc are all excellent and entirely hand to hand combat.
