Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer Bugs?!

Bought MW2 for the PC on saturday and been playing happily since then getting up to level 39 today.

However I attempted to join a game of Ground War this afternoon instead insta-joined a game of free-for-all.. weird but ok! Get one kill and then instead of the '+100' that flashes up I got something weird like '+3E.0xxxxx' (x were numbers) and then I leave the game find I've been boosted to full level 70 (i.e. ready to prestige) and have everything unlocked appparently having gained over 300000XP?!?!

I thought I could live with that as having played MW2 a lot on my friends 360 (and having got to lvl 70) the new guns weren't that novel and I still had all the challenges/titles/emblems to do which is the fun part!

However another weird bug occured earlier again a result of joining a game not of the time i specified. Again one kill and suddenly every challenge is completed?!?! I now have every title and emblem (so including prestige 10 when I'm only the first level 70).


So now I'm really upset as half the fun of the game is now gone... unless anyone knows a way I could get Steam/InfinityWard/Someone to revert me back to how I was or indeed if need be start all over again?

Anyone else experience this?

Any advice/help appreciated!
 
Welcome to MW2.

If you want to rank up properly - which is half the fun - your gonna have to backup the player folder every time before you start... the hacked servers really annoy me.

Joined one game the other today to find the host had hacked it so they were running around AS an AC130 - not controlling it above, they were running around the map on foot as the AC130 but with super speed up rate of fire on the guns.

I played in a game this afternoon which allowed you to choose your load out from any gun in the game and made the mode hardcore, but with the UI. Also it increased mouse sens. and your FOV.

Fun for about 10 minutes. No xp hack done either.

I now backup my 2 directories whenever I've finished a MW2 session.

The first time it happened, I hadn't heard about it before, so had no backups, and ended up using Windows restore on the files and lost about 6h XP.

It's appalling that Activision haven't done anything about it.
They really don't give a **** once they've got your $$$$.
 
Its a good game but theres more things to watch out for due to hacked servers then on any other online game to be fair. I play the game quite a lot with my dad (I've ranked up about 100 hours played, compared to his 800+ lol) and I've encountered just 1 hacked host so far. It was only on normal TDM modes as well (we normally play hardcore only) and noticed I got about 10,100 for a headshot so shouted to my dad and we both left immediately.

We've both been on a few hacked servers which give stuff like low mavity and runspeed and they can be quite fun and nice for a change as long as theres no xp boosting etc.

Sadly though the game is RIFE with aimbotters and wallhackers and theres nothing anyone can do about it. The people who play the game mostly hate cheaters so a lot of the time you can get a decent lobby where everyone has a similar score and have some really good games.
